Ongoing Counseling Activities:

Unless noted otherwise, these activities are for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. 

·         Individual Counseling

·         Staff Consultation

·         Parent Consultation

·         Student Attendance Interventions

·         School Social Worker Consultations (weekly meetings on Wednesdays)

·         RTI/SST meetings on Wednesdays

·         Attendance group meetings during RAM Time

·         New Student group meetings during RAM Time

·         Power Over Prejudice group meetings during RAM Time (7^th Grade)

·         Monthly Report Documentation

·         Care Team assistance for families in need

·         Crisis Referrals to outside agencies

·         Bi-monthly advisement class

·         Teach peer leader class during RAM time

·         Facilitate mentoring program

·         Meet with academic teams

·         Prepare articles for school newsletter

·         G.I.R.L.S.

Monthly Counseling Activities:

 

In addition to the ongoing activities listed above, the following activities will occur monthly.  Unless noted otherwise, these activities are for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade.

 

August

·         Organize counselor calendar

·         Develop counseling plan for year

·         Attend pre-planning in-services

·         Help with Open House and new student registration

·         Help new students find their classrooms

·         Share information regarding student concerns with other grade level counselors

·         Identify students needing early RTI/SST meetings

·         Individual counseling regarding school adjustment

·         Meet with teams to share individual student concerns

·         Review RTI plan, attendance policy

·         Teach counselor introduction lesson

·         Child abuse presentation

·         RAM Time Advisement training to all staff/new teachers

·         Distribute counseling packets to teachers

·         Textbook Check-In

·         Planning for M & M mentoring program begins

·         Prepare student attendance intervention for the year

·         Plan for peer leader program

·         Train Peer Leaders(8^th Grade)

·         Identify students needing early RTI/SST meetings and consult with personnel

·         Consult at parent conferences for transition/retained students

·         Teach sixth grade lesson on transitioning to middle school during connections first week of school.

·         Assist with Curriculum Night

·         Meet with GHS for 8^th grade transition program

·         Attend Power Over Prejudice Summit (7^th Grade)

·         Prepare for small groups

·         Establish meeting with feeder schools to plan for articulation/begin work on articulation for up and coming sixth graders

·         Winter mentoring social

·         Develop second semester advisement lessons

·         Attend meeting for guidelines of GSMST (8^th Grade)

 

 

January

·         Power Over Prejudice activities (7^th Grade)

·         Help with 8^th Grade Writing Assessment

·         Articulation meeting and planning with members from feeder schools/meetings begin with students leaders (6^th Grade & 8^th Grade)

·         Sign paperwork for students interested in attending GSMST (8^th Grade)

·         Prepare for Summer Peer Leader Conference BCMS as host school

·         Career Day planning begins

 

 

February

·         Complete GA College 411 Bridge Bill Implementation

·         Attend early release conferences

·         Celebrate National School Counseling Week

·         Attend counselor recognition meeting

·         Grayson HS to BCMS to meet with students

·         Grayson HS parent Meeting

 

 

March

·         Articulation training with sixth graders (6^th Grade)

·         Interview peer leaders for 2011-2012 (7^th Grade)

 

April

·         Help with CRCT

·         Articulation training

·         Prepare for articulation with high school (8^th Grade)

 

May

·         Compile information regarding student concerns, RTI/SST, and attendance concerns for next year’s counselor

·         Articulation-BCMS visit feeder ES (6^th grade)

·         Articulation—Feeder schools visit  BCMS(6^th Grade)

·         Articulation—Parent night (6^th Grade & 8^th Grade)

·         Mentoring social
